I speak Spanish at an intermediate level and want to pick up French as well. Advice?

I have been learning Spanish for 2 years with a language coach. I am able to have a fairly decent conversation with a Spanish-speaker.
I know that Spanish and French are sort of similar,
will I screw up my Spanish by mixing it with French when I start to learn it?
